January 2013 and I’m having a completely fresh start. So much has changed for me in the past year and I’m super excited at the direction I’m heading and felt I needed a new blog – all fresh and squeaky clean – to reflect that. All the old posts have gone *cough deliberate mistake cough* so it’s all new!
I started this year doing pieces that I wanted to do, stuff for me, practice pieces that would either work or not.I thought I’d share progress shots as I personally love seeing someone’s work come together.
My first one was this one which I’ve called Blind Faith. She has learnt to trust, to release herself from fear and is ready to face whatever may come.
I started with graphite onto a canvas board.

Once I had the basics done I added layers of acrylic paint for colour.

It still needed some depth so charcoal was added for detail.

Finally I added touches of white to add realism and more depth of colour and light.

And there she is, the finished piece – Blind Faith. The original is available for purchase along with prints from FineArtAmerica.com.
